![]() There are two sections of the book which let Thorn's book down badly. ![]() The second strength is the aforementioned seeing the way the world really is - that ability to convey a clear understanding of the world as it actually is (something which he builds upon brilliantly in his two sequels to this book). He would be more than justified in indulging in a massive "I TOLD YOU SO!" post-the Patriot Act and the Global Financial Crisis. Thorn was warning of these dire consequences well before they arrived but obviously not enough people listened. Published in 2003, Thorn is shown to have been startlingly prescient about what was going to happen to the US after 9/11, in terms of the likely impact of the Iraq war and the 'War on Terror' more broadly, in particular in regard to US national indebtedness and the loss of freedom for Americans. However, it is not without a couple of serious snags. ![]() This is a great compendium of information about how the world really works and I would encourage anyone interested in actually seeing the way the world really is to purchase a copy. ![]()
